Required documents for all visa categories

Please note that the following essentials must be met by all applicants submitting their applications for visa.

6 months valid passport from the date of applying for a Danish Visa is mandatory. Please note that the Embassy of Denmark, Bangkok does not accept additional pages inserted into passports. If you do not have two blank pages to which a visa can be affixed, a new passport must be obtained before submitting your application. Applicants shall be lodged no more than three months before the start of the intended visit.

Appointment for Collection of Visa and Residence Permit:

For old cases (the Embassy has received decision from the Danish Immigration Service/Icelandic Directorate of Immigration already and the applicant has been informed by the Embassy)

The processing time is up to15 days for all visa categories depending on the number of applications submitted (excluding day of submission and return to VFS). However, in some cases the procedure may take considerably longer.

	Make appointment with VFS
	Visa: Hand in passport, return ticket, Medical Insurance and updated bank book (incl. additional documentation which is required by the Embassy or the Danish Immigration Service/Icelandic Directorate of Immigration) on the agreed date, at the Embassy and before noon (1200 hrs).
	Residence Permit: Hand in passport and photo (if required by the Embassy) on the agreed date, at the Embassy and before noon (1200 hrs). An applicant who has applied for a residence permit in Denmark and has not handed in the application in person must come in person to pick up the permit at the Embassy.
	The Embassy returns the passports with visa/permit to the applicant at the same day between 14:00 – 15:00.

For applicants who prefer to apply for a visa and residence permit at the Embassy

The waiting time is 2 weeks from the calling date

Appointment for interview at the Embassy:

	Please make an appointment for ALL au pair applicants to come to the Embassy right after the submission of the application or as per the convenience of the applicant (this might delay the process, if the applicant waits too long time after the submission)
	If further information is needed by the Embassy, VFS will contact the applicant to inform them about the request for an interview at the Embassy.

Step 1

Applications for Danish / Icelandic visa and residence permits are accepted at the Visa Application Centre.

Step 2

Before applying, please ensure you are very clear on your ‘purpose of visit’ – do remember we are here to assist and help you through the entire visa application process but are not permitted to advise or guide you on choosing a visa category. Since our work is primarily administrative in nature, we have no say on whether you will be granted a visa and how long it will take to process, as this is entirely the prerogative of the Embassy of Denmark.
